McCutcheon bears a strong resemblance to <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110625025524\/http:\/\/www.etapes.com\/agenda\/expositions\/agenda-saul-steinberg\">Saul Steinberg&#8217;s\u00a0famous 29 March 1976\u00a0<em>New Yorker<\/em> cover<\/a>, whose inspiration is often traced to Daniel K. Wallingford&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidrumsey.com\/luna\/servlet\/detail\/RUMSEY~8~1~268748~90042985:A-New-Yorker-s-idea-of-the-United-S#\"><em>A New Yorker&#8217;s Idea of the United States<\/em><\/a> (1937).
