She had been suffering from Parkinson&#8217;s disease.\u00a0She and her husband, the cardiologist Dr. Harold Osher, who survives her, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oshermaps.org\/research\/collections\/osher-collection\">donated their sizeable map collection<\/a> to the University of Southern Maine in 1989 and advocated the creation of a dedicated map library; the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oshermaps.org\/about\/history\">opened in October 1994<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/obituaries.pressherald.com\/obituaries\/mainetoday-pressherald\/obituary.aspx?n=peggy-osher-liberman&amp;pid=189100806\">Her obituary<\/a> notes that in 1974 she convinced her husband to buy a map on a trip to London\u2014a decision that escalated, as it often does. The Osher family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themainemag.com\/people\/profiles\/1734-the-osher-family\/\">was profiled in 2011<\/a> by <em>Maine<\/em> magazine.
