In the 1970s, Vignelli Associates\u2014Massimo<\/a> and Lella Vignelli<\/a>\u2014made a bid to design the maps for the Washington Metro. That gig went to Lance Wyman<\/a>. The Vignelli Archives recently unearthed some presentation boards<\/a> and design sketches<\/a> from their bid; CityLab<\/em> has more details<\/a>. Cameron Booth notes<\/a> that these are hardly new discoveries, as they’d appeared recently in Peter Lloyd and Mark Ovenden’s Vignelli Transit Maps<\/em><\/a>, which came out in 2012.<\/p>\n
