National Library of Wales.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An exhibition celebrating Welsh author and cartographer <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Humphrey_Llwyd\">Humphrey Llwyd<\/a> (1527-1568) is taking place at the National Library of Wales: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-wales-45241579\">BBC News<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.wales\/information-for\/press-and-media\/press-releases\/2018-press-releases\/the-man-who-put-wales-on-the-map\/\">press release<\/a>. Among other things, Llwyd produced the first published map of Wales (rather than as a part of another map), the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cambriae_Typus\"><em>Cambriae Typus<\/em><\/a>, which appeared as an addendum to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abraham_Ortelius\">Ortelius<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theatrum_Orbis_Terrarum\"><em>Theatrum Orbis Terrarum<\/em><\/a> in 1573. The exhibition runs until the 31st at the Library in Aberystwyth; admission is free.
