The label &#8220;Tarontos Lac&#8221; on what is now Lake Simcoe isn&#8217;t legible on the Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale de France&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/gallica.bnf.fr\/ark:\/12148\/btv1b8021562s\/\">online version<\/a>, but\u00a0when Canadian geographer Rick Laprairie ordered a high-resolution print of the map from BNF, he was surprised to discover it.
