If The Map Room<\/strong>\u2019s 2019 Holiday Gift Guide<\/a> still leaves you wanting for ideas, and the additional books in the Map Books of 2019<\/a> page don\u2019t do it either\u2014maybe you just don\u2019t want a book\u2014here are some other map-related gift guides curated by colleagues and reviewers:<\/p>\n

Over at Map Dragons, Betsy Miller posts 10 Great Gifts for Map Lovers<\/a> that include not just books, but posters, wallpaper, notebooks and even rugs. Many items, like Eleanor Lutz\u2019s Atlas of Space<\/a>, Jim Niehues\u2019s book of ski resort maps<\/a>, and Anton Thomas\u2019s still-forthcoming pictorial map of North America<\/a>, will be familiar to regular readers of this blog.<\/p>\n

Mapping London\u2019s Christmas list<\/a> focuses on recent books about maps of London, as you might expect.<\/p>\n

The New York Times<\/em>\u2019s Tina Jordan looks at recent map books<\/a>, starting, as you might expect, with the latest National Geographic Atlas of the World<\/em><\/a> (\u201cIf you\u2019re going to buy just one atlas this fall . . . \u201d). Her list also includes a couple of 2019 releases I somehow managed to miss:<\/p>\n

\"Book<\/a>An Atlas of Geographical Wonders: From Mountaintops to Riverbeds<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (Princeton Architectural Press<\/a>, September), by Gilles Palsky, Jean-Marc Besse, Philippe Grand and Jean-Christophe Bailly, explores nineteenth-century scientific maps and tableaux, beginning with those by Alexander von Humboldt<\/a>.<\/p>\n
