Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington, Mount Vernon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/history\/2020\/02\/07\/this-map-helped-george-washington-win-revolutionary-war-now-its-display-mount-vernon\/\">Mount Vernon\u2019s library is the recipient of a major donation<\/a> of 18th-century maps, images and other documents pertaining to the American Revolution that is valued at around $12 million. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountvernon.org\/library\/research-library\/special-collections-and-archives\/richard-h-brown-revolutionary-war-map-collection\/\">The Richard H. Brown Revolutionary War Map Collection<\/a>, named for the private collector who donated them, features more than 1,000 items dating from between 1740 and 1799. Of those items, <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.mountvernon.org\/digital\/collection\/p16829coll42\/search\/page\/1\">292 have been digitized so far<\/a>. Mount Vernon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountvernon.org\/library\/\">Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington<\/a> took possession of most of the donation last month.
