John Jackson Miller\u2019s <em>Strange New Worlds<\/em> novel, <strong><em>The High Country<\/em><\/strong>, which comes out today, includes maps of the low-technology world on which it is set; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jjmfaraway\/status\/1613594221776351239\">in Miller\u2019s Twitter thread last month<\/a>, he wondered whether his book was the first, but <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jjmfaraway\/status\/1613662930473734146\">it turns out that a 2000 <em>Deep Space Nine<\/em> novel also had maps<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/o\/ASIN\/1668002388\/maproom-20\">Amazon<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/o\/ASIN\/1668002388\/maproomca-20\">Canada<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/o\/ASIN\/1668002388\/thmaro-21\">UK<\/a>) | <a href=\"https:\/\/bookshop.org\/a\/2925\/9781668002384\">Bookshop<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jonathancrowe.net\/articles\/maps-in-science-fiction\/\">my article about maps in science fiction<\/a> I made reference to the maps in Kim Stanley Robinson\u2019s 1993-1996 <em>Mars<\/em> trilogy.
