On Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/media-telecom\/judge-lifts-trump-white-house-restrictions-ap-while-lawsuit-proceeds-2025-04-08\/\">a federal judge ordered the Trump White House<\/a> to lift those restrictions; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/trump-white-house-appeal-ruling-ap-access-restrictions-2025-04-09\/\">the White House is now appealing the order<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/opinion\/public-editor\/2025\/04\/02\/public-editor-why-doesnt-the-news-use-gulf-of-america\/\">The public editor for the <em>Dallas Morning News<\/em> explains<\/a> why the newspaper continues to use \u201cGulf of Mexico\u201d: \u201cSo, was using \u2018Gulf of Mexico\u2019 an editorial lapse or an act of courage? It was neither. It instead reflected a thoughtful, fair-minded decision driven by a pragmatism we typically refer to as common sense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purplelizard.com\">Purple Lizard Maps<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maproomblog.com\/2018\/09\/purple-lizard-maps\/\">previously<\/a>) says they will soon launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/gulfofmexicomap\/mapping-the-gulf-of-mexico-a-cartographic-stand-for-truth\">a Kickstarter to make a map than honours the history and name of the Gulf of Mexico<\/a>. \u201cWe plan to make a unique, thought-provoking and beautiful map of the Gulf of Mexico. One that highlights 10,000 years of cultural, political and environmental history in this region.
