{"id":1842708,"date":"2025-06-13T10:57:49","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T14:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.maproomblog.com\/?p=1842708"},"modified":"2025-06-13T10:57:50","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T14:57:50","slug":"the-ocean-map","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maproomblog.com\/2025\/06\/the-ocean-map\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ocean Map"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmg.co.uk\/national-maritime-museum\">National Maritime Museum<\/a> in Greenwich, London <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmg.co.uk\/stories\/ocean\/turning-our-view-world-inside-out-introducing-new-ocean-map\">has a new attraction<\/a>. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmg.co.uk\/national-maritime-museum\/attractions\/ocean-map\">The Ocean Map<\/a>\u00a0is a giant, 440m<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0floor map that turns our view of the world inside out. While most world maps focus on countries and continents, the Ocean Map is all about\u00a0<em>water<\/em>.\u201d You can probably see where this is going: the Museum\u2019s floor map uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maproomblog.com\/tag\/spilhaus\/\">Spilhaus projection<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/helenczerski.bsky.social\/post\/3lqhh7qfmxs2a\">Here\u2019s a preview<\/a> from before the hall in which it\u2019s situated reopened on June 7:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-bluesky-social wp-block-embed-bluesky-social\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"bluesky-embed\" data-bluesky-uri=\"at:\/\/did:plc:2g72wvrmzdfakrjq56d3lddj\/app.bsky.feed.post\/3lqhh7qfmxs2a\" data-bluesky-cid=\"bafyreifsi6bl6na4gdvipfbjs32vcxke7vi4p4pwdb676kw4mn7bplcp2q\"><p lang=\"en\">I&#39;m genuinely SO excited about the new ocean map that will be at the heart of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich when this hall reopens on June 7th.
