I mean, it\u2019s on a university campus: controversy about such things was inevitable. Via <a href=\"https:\/\/mappery.org\/upside-down-world-with-a-difference\/\">Mappery<\/a>; more at <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlasobscura.com\/places\/the-world-turned-upside-down\">Atlas Obscura<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/brilliantmaps.com\/upside-down-globe\/\">Brilliant Maps<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mappery also points to <a href=\"https:\/\/mappery.org\/globular-clock\/\">a 19th-century globular clock<\/a> that shows the sun\u2019s position at noon on the globe, which I find awfully intriguing, which is to say I want one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.loc.gov\/preservation\/2025\/07\/rehousing-rare-globes\/\">The Library of Congress is changing how it stores its rare globes<\/a>, replacing acrylic vitrines (heavy, bulky, and potentially off-gassing compounds that put the globes at risk) with archival cardboard cases, which are less sexy but more practical\u2014we\u2019re talking about storage, not display.
