Earlier this year, a study in the\u00a0Swiss Medical Weekly<\/em><\/a> explored the spatial patterns of Swiss mortality\u00a0rates between 2008 and 2012. The study looked at the most common causes of death and\u00a0produced a number of maps.\u00a0The\u00a0Tages Anzeiger<\/em>\u2019s story on the study<\/a> (in German) focused on only two of them\u2014diabetes and liver disease\u2014that produced the most dramatic regional variations: basically, people in German-speaking regions are more likely to die of diabetes, and people in French-speaking regions are more likely to die of liver disease. The newspaper’s interactive\u00a0maps are\u00a0nicer, too:<\/p>\n
