Persuasive cartography: it’s a term I haven’t encountered before, though I’ve seen kind of\u00a0maps it refers to: propagandistic art that uses cartography to make a point\u2014think of all those caricature\u00a0maps<\/a> leading up to World War I.\u00a0Many of them can be found in\u00a0Cornell University Library’s P. J. Mode Collection of\u00a0Persuasive Cartography<\/a>: there are more than 300 maps available online<\/a>, plus some pages about the genre<\/a>.\u00a0(Above: a 1951 map<\/a> from the French Communist Party that takes a pro-Soviet line against the U.S. military.)\u00a0[via<\/a>]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
