Bartholomew\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotsman.com\/news\/obituaries\/obituary-robert-bartholomew-last-surviving-member-of-family-who-steered-edinburgh-based-cartographers-1-4446842\">died last April in Edinburgh at the age of 90<\/a>. Robert and his older brothers John and Peter, who died in 2008 and 1987, respectively, were the last of <a href=\"http:\/\/digital.nls.uk\/bartholomew\/family\/index.html\">six generations of Bartholomews<\/a> working for the eponymous family mapmaking firm, John Bartholomew and Son, that was, among other things, responsible for the\u00a0<em>Times<\/em> series of atlases before being <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collinsbartholomew.com\">subsumed into the HarperCollins publishing empire<\/a>. Robert served as production manager, John as director and Peter as chairman.
