He wasn&#8217;t a map expert\u2014he didn&#8217;t even own a GPS receiver until 2008\u2014but liked them all the same, and thought blogging about them would be a good way to learn more. Now, more than two decades later, people insist on calling him a map expert, to his continuing befuddlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Map Room<\/strong>&nbsp;ran for more than eight years\u2014between March 2003 and June 2011\u2014and amassed more than four thousand posts before Jonathan wrapped it up&nbsp;in June 2011.&nbsp;After a&nbsp;hiatus of four and a half years, Jonathan brought it back in January 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:2em\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"about-author\">About the Author<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jonathan Crowe<\/strong> blogs about maps at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maproomblog.com\/\">The Map Room<\/a>. His nonfiction has been published by <em><a href=\"http:\/\/aescifi.ca\/?s=Jonathan%20Crowe\">AE<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyrsf.com\/\">The New York Review of Science Fiction<\/a><\/em>, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ottawacitizen.com\/\">Ottawa Citizen<\/a><\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/strangehorizons.com\/author\/jonathan-crowe\/\"><em>Strange Horizons<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tor.com\/author\/jonathan-crowe\/\">Tor.com (now <em>Reactor<\/em>)<\/a>.
